3rd August - Blackpool

Take last weekend whilst having a gently stroll along the south shore prom at Blackpool - could ready have done with the sun in the heart in the middle - but i'd need to be about 20ft tall to achieve that !
Thanks for looking and i'd appreciapte your comments please.

23rd July - Wycollar

Another trip to Wycollar - due to overcast skies - being in a valley it's a little cooler and less windy - lots of visitors today.

I did find a 'new' waterfall - the first photo is approaching this waterfall - did put my feet in a pool that was much deeper then I intended - thanks to decent boots, I have dry feet.
Waiting for the sun to break though the froilage, this is the result - love the clear water and the stones below
I've taken this view before, but not managed to light the wall up! dropped my remote trigger in the stream too - did manage to find it and dry it out!

Wycollar

Its about time that I posted these photos - taken a couple of years ago - both were taken in infra-red - a different format of black and white - as the grass shows as white.
Both photos are of the walls of the old manor house, which was constructed during the 16th Century

26th June - Rivington

This estate was built around 1900 by Lord Leverhume - not been up here for far too long - anyway, this is from the ravine.
Thanks for taking the time to look.

25th June

This photo is the result of 3 or 4yrs hard work to achieve the 4 seasons from Castle Rigg - this is a photo of the print that i printed in powerpoint - just notice the difference in the light.
Thanks once again for looking.

21st June - Longest Day of the Year

Yes, hte longest day of the year and what did I manage to take a photo in Black and White - the reason being, it was overcast, grey skies and howling a gale!
Taken in Black and White - it shows the sun lighting up the far hills

18th June - Wycollar

This is my first outing to Wycollar since I started my Blog - It's a quiet place, follow the stream from the old manor house and there are a few waterfalls to take photos off. Regular follows will know that if am taking water and waterfalls, then my feet are generally in the water as I take the photo.
This first waterfall, is 2m below the walkway - again, as at Roddlesworth - but this time it is possible to reach the water level - i've included 2 photos of this waterfall - showing you the first signs of what you finally reach having walked the water - hope you like this.
and then after the short, but slippy walk in and across the water
On the way back I stopped to take this last easy waterfall.
Thanks once again for taking time to view my work.

16th June - Castle Rigg - Keswick

Today saw me calling once again at Castle Rigg to capture the last photo of my four seasons from here. Was a long wait for various people to decide to stop sitting or taking photos within the circle, then had to wait for the sun to come out. My intention now is to create a photo frame with all the four photos on - the first three photos are at the very begining of this blog.

Thanks for looking.

4th June - morning exploring Roddlesworth again

Today was more of a walk and explore, with only a few chances to take photo's. This first picture was taken from a slightly different position to show the little footbridge over the stream feeding the reservoir.
Taken at the bottom of the dam - the flow is only due to the Water Authority taking water from the reservoir. The moss covered stones in the middle of the water are cut and shaped posts, so I do wonder where they should have been placed?
I have taken this photo before - in the autumn - but stood once more in the river, taking this, waiting for the sun to light the scene, I noticed the reflection in the pool
I found this waterfall in the last blog - and commented I wanted to take it from river level - well I cheated a little - fixing the camera to the tripod at full height, I then turned it upside down, before lowering it carefully to the water - having made sure my feet where safe - this was a 4sec exposure, so balancing over the edge, holding everything still for that long is another issue - hope the result is pleasing to you all.

28th May - late afternoon visit to Roddlesworth

Went back to Roddlesworth to explore a path i'd not visited before, but before I got to this 'new' path, I came across these late woodland Bluebells in this field.

I did this to finish the photo off - me looking into the field of bluebells
I wasn't expecting to find this on the 'new' path - i'd love to get to the river level to take a photo looking up, but as where I was stood was some 3metres above the water on a shear drop, am not too sure how as yet - as walking up the river will mean a hazardous 100m river walk - well another time maybe
Regular readers will recongise this bridge - caught this in great light!
triggered the camera remotely to show me looking downstream
Thanks for your time looking.

17th May 11 - a cloudy wet miserable day in the lakes - again !

The above two photos are from the side of Wast Water - looking West at the end of the deepest Lake within the Lake District - it was windy and cold, never mind the low cloud !

I took this photo to show a mate that I do wildlife occassionally - granted I used hte Blackhead gull in the foreground of a landscape photo ! By the way thats now sky at the top of the photo, its very low level cloud over the scree slopes of Wast Waters south shore

Regular visitors to my blog will understand me taking this photo, even in the miserable weather conditions, I had just miss a coach load of Japanese visitors tramping around here, I past them walking down hte middle of the access road !
The farmer has sheep in the field now, so maybe you can stop an odd one or three!

I hadn't stopped this white farm house before - must have been the misty conditions that showed it all to me

Sunday 8 May 2011

8th May - A re-visit from yesterday

Took my 'Darling' better half with me today
The better half going to see the Bluebells, the old 'Well House' on the right

Bluebells - the last of this season !

A 'new' stream and waterfall for me - loads of possibilities for later in the year

Thanks for viewing

Saturday 7 May 2011

7th May - Roddlesworth again

However, i visited an area that i've not been too before - the old manor house ruins dating from 14th Century and the Well House from the 18th Century. The Well House is padlocked shut and very dark, but i've included a photo taken at about 20seconds to show the inside - 3 springs collected here when the well house was in full use and even now you can see where the water would have arrived.
The huge bonus for me today was the fact that there where still bluebells in flower, which i manged to catch during the rain showers.
The old Well House -with the original 'well' in the foreground, you can just see the bluebells in the distance
Inside the old Well House - either side of the lions head are the original baths. You can still see the water running out though the floor
Blue bells behind the Well House
Well have to revisit this area again.

29th April 11 - Sharp Edge to Blencathra

A drive up into the north lakes - forecast was to be windy, and dry - a walk to Scales Tarn at the bottom of Sharp Edge, then onwards up to Sharp Edge - hmmm, see why its called Sharp Edge from up there, and it started to rain, just as we had to climb the last parts and yes i do mean Climb! Then the windy started to blow a gale as we walked to the top of Blencathra - great view and well worth the climb.
the first view of Sharp Edge

A waterfall - a pleasant break on the way up!

Scales Tarn from Sharp Edge - its a long way down!

Looking backwards along Sharp Edge - Eastwards - you can see the Storm approaching fast! and yes thats a long way down on either side of this - we had just climbed, clunged to this

From the top of Blencathra looking over the A66 - Thirlmere valley is under the bright clouds

Many thanks to Dave for the company on this walk.

17th April 11

A hot sunny day in April - saw me back at Roddlesworth - looking for the 'Spring' photos to add to my autumn and winter ones from there.
I have a stunning 'autumn' shot from here - so this is the 'spring' version

This stream is created from the reserviour above, as the water is run off to supply water to Bolton.
Lots of people around all the reservoirs taking the advantage of the great weather - the water level is already very low!!
